API Blog -- President @JoeBiden's plan to whip inflation lacks a realistic approach on the higher fuel prices that have impacted Americans -- support for US oil production, to put downward pressure on global crude costs that have driven pump prices: https://t.co/SzNLc3dwnO pic.twitter.com/Qie1bbbRLJ

The American Petroleum Institute is promoting its increase production agenda on social media.
The petroleum industry has historically manipulated both the price of crude and production levels in order to maintain high profits. In this case, it is using the 'not enough production = high fuel prices' dis-information technique to justify excess profits and to undermine the energy transition agenda of the Biden Administration. This is a continuation of a historical pattern shameless disinformation from the API. While API rarely advocated directly for plastics production, it represents the industry that is at the root of the plastics value chain, and therefore is heavily invested in the continued growth of plastics production. These types of propaganda campaign support that goal.
